Is monsoon over?

The weather has been really nice this past week, and everyone thought that monsoon was over. But, when I woke up this morning there was no sun and it was misty and wet... Despite the cold wet weather this morning, I took my camera and went searching for a couple signs of the end of monsoon.

Brown ferns are a good indication. Over the past week I have watched this trees ferns go from a bright vivid green to a dull brown.

Another good indicator is the red seeds on this plant. If you walk around the hillside, you will notice that it is spotted with these red topped plants. So, I hope that monsoon is near the end, my clothes need to dry out.

One of this years projects for our new house was planting a garden. This is a little corner of the garden, this is were all the mishapen, and broken pots go, it is always growing.

This was really exciting for me, I planted tomatoes plants and a couple of old-timers on the hillside said that tomatoes wouldn't produce here...but look there is a little fruit growing.

Here is a potatoe plant, flourishing in the monsoon weather

and a cucumber growing on the vine

and then something terrible happened...people warned me

My garden was attacked by monkeys and they pulled up every tomatoe plant, broke every bean stem and ate all the potatoes. I guess that people warned me...

Here is Anu the watch cat, but shes afraid of monkeys.

Well, it is always an adventure here, whether it is trying to grow a sucessful garden in a monkey infested area or trying to guess when monsoon is over...or teaching. It keeps me busy.
The sun just started to shine through the mist, so perhaps monsoon is over.
